I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two-time world boxing king Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually known for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead attacked former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "ridiculous" after Ngannou rejected a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British rival Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Fighter

Despite saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's biggest financial successes, regularly earning massive paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in round four or five and asserted he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really going ahead.
